Who: Haruka and Himeko
Where: Common rooms.
When: Monday, April 17, late evening
What: Discussing everything that happened. (Backthreading!!)
(Sorry! I know I’m late posting this D: Had a lot to do with homework and deadlines during the past few weeks and now I have to prepare everything for moving in less than two weeks... I try to post as often as I can, though… >o<)
It was late. Long after curfew already. Himeko was pretty exhausted from everything that had happened today. But she was also too confused to actually get some sleep just yet.
That was probably one of the reasons she wandered around the girls' dorms at this late hour.
She liked extreme situations. At first, she also thought about today’s happening as something extreme, something exciting. Being a hero sounded like fun. Even if with 'monster hunting' added to it, her schedule would get even busier than it was before, the experience and the fun was probably worth it.
But then again the whole thing was way too unrealistic. Fighting monsters in some kind of strange parallel world? That sounded more like taken from a fantasy novel, rather than being true.
It also seemed highly risky to her. If they all would die during those missions, how would the staff members explain it to their families?
Honestly, part of her was afraid of participating in this. The stabbing reminded her of something not too long ago, she wanted to forget and generally she felt oppressed without having the choice of participating or not.
She didn’t really want to admit it, but another reason for her wandering around was the urge to talk today through with someone. Someone, she felt she could trust and whose opinion she somehow cared about.
To Himeko her roommate, Haruka, was someone like that.
They got along pretty well for the short period of time they roomed together until now. Even a little better than the idol-wannabe had previously thought they would. After just a few days of being assigned to the same room Himeko, who usually needed some time to fully trust someone she newly met, found herself talking about things with Haruka, she normally wouldn’t discuss with others after just recently getting to know them.
Sadly, her roommate hadn’t been coming back to their room for the whole day today.
She definitely had her reasons for doing so, but still, before she even realized it Himeko had started searching for her.
Having been almost anywhere inside the building by now, she finally stopped in front of the only place she hadn’t looked into before; the common rooms. If she wasn’t in here it would be for the best to just give up and quietly return to their room.
Himeko carefully opened the door and peeked inside. Her expression brightened as soon as she saw a familiar person sitting there at one of the tables.
“Haruru? That is where you have been the whole time?”,she quietly addressed the other girl, while entering the room and silently shutting the door behind her.

Sprawled out on the couch, her eyes were open and drifted unfocused. That fit her mental state about right too...
When she heard someone else enter the room, followed by Hachi's voice, her eyes snapped shut and turned her head in the direction of the door, looking more like her usual self - if that involved looking exhausted and her hair slightly mussed from the fall earlier. She sounded normal though, as she replied,
"Yeah. I guess I've been too lazy to move?" Beat. Head tilt. "Shouldn't you be asleep?"
((That's fine~~))

Haruka did look exhausted, but Himeko knew that she herself didn’t look much better right now.
It was one of the rare occasions she just had her hair down without tying it into her usual twintails.
Most likely because she knew that at this late hour nobody would see her anyway, but she also was simply too exhausted to really care about her overall appearance at the moment. She usually thought of her normal training routine as extremely tiring, but today had definitely brought her definition of that to an entirely new level.
“Anyway... I wanted to talk to you. I thought I’d be fine dealing with it by myself but…”, she continued after a little break.
“The whole monster hunting thing is kind of...confusing me. I don’t even know what to think about it anymore.”
no subject
She tilted her head slightly, but the mention of the 'monster hunting' made her draw short for a moment, before she replied, "Yeah. Think that's most of us. I don't think the student manual had anything like that in there. Unless it did, then I guess guys like Tanemoto-san could say 'I told you so'."
no subject
Normally, she probably wouldn’t even mention it. It was solely Haruka’s decision where to spend the night and she didn’t have any right to interfere with that.
But on a day like today with such a happening, she couldn’t hide the fact that she was worried about her a little. Himeko didn’t know her roommate well enough to determine how she would react to such happenings yet.
She couldn’t help but chuckle a little at that comment, though. “I’ve never really read the student handbook, but I’m sure it wasn’t in there. Nobody in our group looked really enthusiastic about participating in all this...”, Himeko became more serious again while speaking. Recalling the events, that happened earlier made her feel even more exhausted and uncomfortable than she already was.
“...Don’t you think that they just use us as their guinea pigs because we can summon those...things? It’s possible that we die and they don't really give the impression that they would care in case we do. I mean...they already made us stab ourselves.”, it was probably a very bad thing to say, but then again they didn’t even know what exactly they were going to fight and how dangerous it would be. In a lot of fantasy movies she had seen or books she had read, at least one of the main characters always died.
So assuming the whole thing was like a fantasy novel or movie the possibility of dying seemed rather high.
no subject
"Probably? They'll probably have nice reasons for themselves. The good of the country, fighting evil, only these kids can do it but we'll do everything to support them to make it easier, the kids may dislike us now but they'll look back on this and appreciate it, and if someone dies they'll be very sorry but it was necessary. All the fun tropes." She seemed to think on something further. "Guess that comment about the blind girl dying I made earlier sticks better now?"
no subject
As soon as she heard her roommate confirming her own thoughts about their current situation, though, she shook her head reluctantly.
“I really don’t want that. It’s not like we have a choice on that matter but still...”, the very idea of someone dying in front of her made the 'idol wannabe' cringe. She didn’t know anything about those ‘monsters’ and how they killed people when they did, but she also didn’t feel like witnessing it anytime soon.
Himeko wanted to speak up again when she noticed Haruka’s extremely tired expression. Even though, she herself was pretty tired as well, maybe bringing all of that up now was a bit too much for the other girl to handle.
“I’m sorry for bringing all that up right now.”, she said followed by a deep sigh.
“I tried to see the whole as something fun. You have to admit playing hero sounds like a fun thing to do at first, right? I’m just not completely sure how serious everything will get… It could still be fun actually…but I have to admit that I don’t really trust the whole staff completely.”, she tried to loosen up the whole situation a little with that statement, but sort of failed.
It was true that she somehow believed that a part of this whole thing could actually be fun.
That didn’t mean that she wasn’t also somewhat afraid of it, though.
no subject
She lightly tapped on the couch, encouraging Himeko to sit down if she wanted, before adding,
"If we're not in something like that or have the sucky luck of ending up in a grimdark situation like, Homuka Magica or Attack on Golem, think you'd leave and go back home?"
no subject
“I would prefer the double lives and otherwise normal daily routine, though.”, Himeko smiled a little at the other girl’s remarks. When Haruka talked about it everything didn’t sound that bad.
Maybe she had been right assuming that it could be fun after all? There was at least the possibility that it wasn’t overly dangerous and really more like an unusual kind of game in which they played the heroes.
“What about you, Haruru?”, Himeko asked after a little pause, looking at her roommate curiously.
no subject
Except maybe her parents would actually know what happened to her if the worst ever happened. If only they hadn't let her go would be their thoughts either way, she guessed.
"Both would be okay, if I could mix them. If I wanted completely ordinary, I could have just stayed home, did what everyone said I ought to be doing, and follow up on appropriate post-grad plans. But that'd be less interesting."
no subject
“At least it’s a something different from my idol training. It will probably consume a lot of extra time ,though. My family wouldn’t be pleased about this.”, she couldn’t help thinking of this fact as pretty amusing. Training, manners, effort and of course success. With the exception of her relatives in Sapporo, her whole family cared about nothing else.
“I’m not sure how all of this will turn out and how the other people that were present today feel about it...but since we can’t refuse to participate anyway we maybe should at least have a bit of fun, shouldn't we? Let’s just see ourselves as heroes!”, there was no doubt that the idol-wannabe was still extremely tired, but she tried her best to still sound somewhat excited.
"Oh, and let's form some kind of a team Haruru! Let's help each other out!", she suggested.
no subject
"Which colour of sentai would you be?"
no subject
“I want my costume to be cute and with a lot of ribbons on it and...Ah, wait! But the leader is always the red one, isn’t it? I want to be leader, too...”
She thought about that “problem” for a moment, a troubled expression on her face.
“Too bad I can’t be both...maybe I can be a pink sub-leader, though...Anyway let’s decide on your colour first! What would you want to be?”, again, curiosity on her face.
“Oh, and if we ever get costumes I refuse to wear those stupid helmets! They aren’t cute at all!”
no subject
"Pink sub-leader. Is what I'd say if I were that mean." She leaned her head back slightly and continued, "I dunno, they're all the same to me. Blue sounds like it's associated with chillness so maybe that?
"Yep. Plus, hat hair sucks. Mahou Shojos and Shounens would probably much cuter though."
no subject
“Haruru! Stop doing that, it’s mean!”, she protested. “But blue fits you. That’s for sure.”, the idol-wannabe chuckled slightly. The first thing she had noticed about her roommate, when meeting her for the first time had really been this calm and chilling attitude of hers. She did like it, though.
“It’s decided then! We are a team from now on! That’s going to be fun!”, Himeko continued as cheerful as she still could. It came out a bit more tired than it was supposed to be, but she figured that it was still energetic enough.
“You’re right, you’re right! Mahou Shoujo’s would be cute! When I was little, I always admired them… Still, I doubt I’d like to see boys in cute costumes with oversized ribbons and a lot of frills…”, she tried to imagine a male version of some kind of magical girl, but gave up soon enough while shaking her head in disgust. “…gross!”
no subject
"I dunno. Could be interesting? At least it'd be fun to have them through, hairy man hair legs aside."
no subject
As soon as she realized that Haruka didn’t really take her protest seriously, Himeko started pouting again.
“But you’re right ... We need a name. Something cool but cute would be nice...”, she agreed with her roommate. Normally, it wasn’t hard for her to come up with names. They were mostly only nickname’s for other people, though. Plus, she was kind of tired right now.
“ ’Cocoa daisuki-dan’...um...but that wouldn’t fit you at all and it’s not that cute... ‘yuusei-dan’ as in superiority… ah, but that isn’t cute either… That’s harder than I thought it would be! Any ideas yourself? Maybe we can combine something?”, she suggested, looking at Haruka hopefully.
“…hairy man hair legs…Wh-What?! Ugh...No way!! That’s gross Haruru! …Wait!…Don’t tell me you are into that kind of thing?!”
If that really was the case, she should probably stop making those derogatory comments.
no subject
"Not really? Though if there were some I wouldn't be able to appreciate it or recoil in horror. Can you imagine Imaizumi-senpai or Tanemoto-san prancing around with short shirts and showing off their legs?"
no subject
It was true that she wasn’t exactly the most scary person ever…not even somewhere near scary…but that wasn’t a reason to assume that she couldn’t perform mean actions when provoked.
“Team Hachiru sounds cute, though! I like it!”, she continued more excited and almost forgot that she had originally been upset just a few moments ago.
“Stop!! Don’t make me imagine any of this! …Damn, I’m sure that’s going to appear in my dreams tonight at some point…it’s going to creep the hell out of me!”, the idol-wannabe whined.
no subject
"Team Hachiru it is." She smiled. "Could be worse things to dream about? You could always see them shirtless too and get hairy chest hair along with hair leg hair."
no subject
“But since we are a team now I might go easy on you!”, she continued jokingly and chuckled a little.
“Please stop! That’s too much and it’s too gross! Dreams with people like Ruleaholic in them are bad dreams as they are…but the whole hairy thing would be definitely the worst! I really hope you’ll be the one dreaming about that tonight and not me! You’re the one who brought it up after all!”, she shuddered. There was no way she wanted to see any of this in her dreams tonight.
After all the confusing things that happened today, she really felt like she had earned at least some pleasant dreams instead of highly disturbing ones.
no subject
"Could be worse? Though it might make it hard next time you see Tanemoto-san in homeroom." She smirked at Hachi's distress. "If it's me who ends up dreaming though, you'll know by my sorrowful cries in the night. Sniff."
no subject
“It’s already hard enough seeing this guy around without a dream like that anyway...”,she let out a pained sigh.
“Just stop making fun of it! If you really decide to cry the night through, I’ll throw you out of the room…or shut you up with a pillow or something. You can choose.”, it was pretty clear that she was joking. If her roommate would really decide to keep her awake like this though, she definitely would do something against it.
no subject
"Wow. You'd throw me out or smother me for horrible emotional duress?" She asked, though jokingly. After a beat, she continued, "Feeling tired? Or going to take advantage of our day off tomorrow?"
no subject
“That’s only natural, right? You don’t seem like the type, who would think of a dream like that as too horrible. “, she chuckled. “You’d just do it to annoy me anyway!”
Himeko paused a little and thought about the question before she gave an answer.
“I’m tired. But too lazy to get up and walk back to our room! You wouldn’t carry me there by chance as some kind of paypack for the inner cinema just now?”, she joked.
“But honestly, I’m going to take advantage of our day off tomorrow for sure. I’ll probably end up spending the whole day with catching up on sleep and drinking cocoa! What about you Haruru?”
no subject
"Could try? I might end up dropping you thought," she replied. "I guess if worst comes to worse we could just camp out here? Not like the couches aren't comfy enough.
"Probably sleep in and then go out. Everyone else is in classes so might as well go enjoy things. Better than holing up in the room at least."
no subject
“It’s not like I’m that heavy, though. I doubt you’d collapse.”, she added and chuckled at the thought. Due to her training routine she had always been slimmer and lighter than most of the other girls around her. She kind of hated it because she wasn’t allowed to eat as much as she would like to, but she also learned to bear with it. Plus, she never really followed those rules that strictly anyway.
“I see. Well… Camping out here doesn’t seem to be the worst idea.”, Himeko agreed after thinking it through for a little while. “But if anyone finds us here we have to listen to their lectures all day long and I’d hate that.”, she slightly grimaced. Lectures were one of her weak spots. They were tiring and she utterly hated to listen to them.
no subject
"Not all day. I think Yachiyo-sensei's word overrules theirs." Something flickered on Haruka's face for a moment before it was gone. "Exhaustion seems like a good excuse? Slipped our conscious minds how late it was."
no subject
“Even if they are just 5 minutes long. Lectures are lectures and they are the worst…”, she mumbled and sighed once more. “I wouldn’t want anyone to see me down here like this…but can’t be helped, I guess? If you decide to sleep down here, I’ll probably tag along.”, the idol-wannabe shrugged. She wasn’t in the mood to argue any further. All she wanted right now was a place to finally get some sleep.
no subject
Haruka seemed to think on that. She felt the couch and gave it a light squeeze, memorizing the feeling. It really was comfy and the room was four flights up.
"Probably just stay here for a little bit. The adults can deal with it if they see us." She folded up her legs so that they rested on the couch and she laid her head on the arm rest. Turning her head slightly in Hachi's direction, she said, "We can sneak back upstairs later or pretend we got up extra early."
