Who: Mirai and Himeko
Where: Kyudo Dojo
When: Friday, April 21st, right after classes
What: Failed prank attempt

‘Due to some minor maintenance works on the Dojo, today’s practice will be cancelled.’
Himeko nodded confidently at the fake notice she had put up. It would definitely buy her some time to prepare her prank without anyone interfering.
There was no real reason why she chose Kyudo out of all clubs at school. She would have been fine with any other club as well. It just had to be one she couldn’t be directly associated with.
Playing pranks on other people from time to time wasn’t something she had started to do on her own. The real reason for her doing it, however, was one she always kept quiet about.
It had brought her into trouble several times already but if a prank succeeded, the reactions she got from it were always worth the effort.
She knew that it was rather childish to do it and therefore refrained from doing it too often. Himeko didn’t mostly do it for herself after all. But the promise she made on that day was important to her and she intended to keep it.
Plus, in times like these when she was put under a lot of pressure, it was also a nice way to relieve some stress.

“Let’s see…”, she mumbled, looking around the dojo. She had a few ideas what to do, but wasn’t sure which one would be the funniest yet.
“Well...I could start by putting them up.”, Himeko continued, while fishing some printed pictures of teachers out of her bag. It had been easy to get them from the internet, way too easy. By putting them onto the targets and luring some teachers here by accident she was sure that she could get a nice reaction from some of the club members.
Now everything she had to do was starting her preparations.
“That’s going to be great fun, when it’s finished. You would be totally proud of me...”, she muttered to herself, a mischievous grin appearing on her face.

The notice, when Mirai found it pinned up like a warning sign, was a suspicious piece of paper in a plastic sheet, taped to the door in a slipshod manner that sent his mind into an overdrive of anxiety and paranoia. He tried thinking meticulously back to the last time he clearly remembered sensei enthusing over his clean and brand-spanking new dojo. He began to wonder who had posted it.

He swiped the notice off with quick and precise force and folded it neatly in a square in the folds of his kimono. He entered the dojo and watched Himeko pinning papers almost happily to the targets with a small spring in her step, looking thoroughly devilish. He began to wonder if she was totally ignorant of his presence.

His voice hummed quite merrily. A wicked smile came to the beauty of his face. "Hello, kouhai."

Mirai stood quietly on the spot, watching. Regardless of the fact he saw through her lie as if it were thinly-woven silk, its tale was fun and offered to kill the hours. There was enough creativity to interest him and she was a peculiar liar. She could provide his entertainment today.

His smile thinned, but he said proudly, "Yeah. That sounds fine." He walked over to the targets lazily. "Horaoku-sensei, huh? Yachiyo-sensei too? I wonder what they would say if they were to see what's happening here." His eyes shot her a look. "I see... Oh my. You've got guts, Himeko-chan."

"Really?" Mirai said innocuously, swiping Horaoku's poster off the board. "Well then, maybe it's not yours like you said. If I had met the mind behind this - I would have congratulated them."

Then he showed her the torn picture, waving it under her nose first, and then tossing it as a ball into the bleachers. It bounced off the bench first and disappeared down the empty space. Which of course would fill with witnesses soon enough. This pleased him. Himeko, too, seemed to share his love of audiences. He thought she would at least want to keep their favourable opinion.

Mirai could not help thinking this was extraordinarily brave of her. His brown eyes met hers curiously. Then he turned his back and, with a little glide in his steps, ambled to the front bench to seat himself portentously, where his legs openly stretched like he owned the place. From then on, he kept his gaze focused on Himeko so he wouldn't miss a thing.

"What do you think?" he asked suggestively. The word 'indeed' never crossed his lips, but his eyes showed something less than virtuous. "Doesn't it strike you that there's much better people to play tricks on, Himeko-chan? Some who are too straight about the rules, you think?"

For a while Mirai pulled and played with the fingers of his archery glove. "I always do, Himeko-chan," he said. "Now come sit over here and listen to your senpai. Rest your feet for a while." He removed the leather gloves' strap and used his thumb and forefinger to wind it tighter. "I'm quite a swell guy. You should listen to what I say. I've got lots of experience, anyway."

A sly smile never seemed to cross his lips. It stayed hidden behind his eyes. And further beyond was the pleasure he took from this for himself. Truly it amused him to steer someone down the incorrect path. Although in this case it was as if he hardly had to work to do so. Hilarious!

Mirai turned and leaned backwards, and put out his legs till he was comfortably stretched. Then he considered helping, not entirely kindly, the directing of her energy into a different path - this interesting thing he was sure would happen. He could feel some cosmic force would come down on Ryouta's head. Now he had to watch it unfold.

He kept his back straight and stretched out with his feet - which was to him like he was sitting on a throne. He smiled down at her.

"Good senpai that I am, I'm going to teach you two lessons. First. Only start something you can win. Second, and listen up Himeko-chan because this is very important," he gestured over at her fliers, "is to never get caught."

This conversation led Mirai to find a few moments of peace in which to decide what he wanted from it. He was wondering by now if asking him for advice was the best she could do. He thought she was far cleverer than she had been showing - and on several occasions he had given her the time to demonstrate it. Which of course was never coming.

"You really should say what you want to hear," he said. "You're always speaking in riddles. You should speak straight, Himeko-chan. Be more specific, if you would. What do you wish to know?"

Mirai shut his eyes. One good admission. Throw her some scraps of truth, he thought, and he would simply enjoy the show. How long before he could even plan how she would turn the school upside down? He opened his eyes. And he simply lay his gaze on her. He also offered a nice smile. At least she was allowing him to show a little bit of himself.

"Nothing easily proved," he said to her. "It'll make a change to have a show I don't have to make myself." He inspected his nails as easily as though he were discussing some television programme. "Rules-kun needs to be careful about where he enforces school regulations, don't you think? I am quite sure it ought to give some amusement. You'd like a good show too, wouldn't you?"

[[No worries! Enjoy your new home :3]]

"Of course," said Mirai. "The thing I want with Tanemoto-kun is just that you let me watch. And of course I wouldn't get in your way..."

He stopped talking and waited to see Himeko's response, resting one leg over the other, smoothing his hakama over his knee, doing something about all this excitement that was building in his body. He had caught a glimpse of her serious expression but would never believe it - and had caught her in the act, he thought thoughtfully, looking at his fingernails.

Mirai nodded and uncrossed his legs. He sat quietly amongst the bleachers for some time. He examined his desires and the risk - which kept him occupied for a minute - and chose to keep her secrets for a little while. His lips rose into a nice smile.

"Certainly. Like I said, I enjoy a good show." He stood up as he spoke. "I've got some last-minute cleaning to do here. Now, if you'd be so kind?"

He didn't want a non-club member under his feet.
