Who: Mirai and Himeko
Where: Kyudo Dojo
When: Friday, April 21st, right after classes
What: Failed prank attempt
‘Due to some minor maintenance works on the Dojo, today’s practice will be cancelled.’
Himeko nodded confidently at the fake notice she had put up. It would definitely buy her some time to prepare her prank without anyone interfering.
There was no real reason why she chose Kyudo out of all clubs at school. She would have been fine with any other club as well. It just had to be one she couldn’t be directly associated with.
Playing pranks on other people from time to time wasn’t something she had started to do on her own. The real reason for her doing it, however, was one she always kept quiet about.
It had brought her into trouble several times already but if a prank succeeded, the reactions she got from it were always worth the effort.
She knew that it was rather childish to do it and therefore refrained from doing it too often. Himeko didn’t mostly do it for herself after all. But the promise she made on that day was important to her and she intended to keep it.
Plus, in times like these when she was put under a lot of pressure, it was also a nice way to relieve some stress.
“Let’s see…”, she mumbled, looking around the dojo. She had a few ideas what to do, but wasn’t sure which one would be the funniest yet.
“Well...I could start by putting them up.”, Himeko continued, while fishing some printed pictures of teachers out of her bag. It had been easy to get them from the internet, way too easy. By putting them onto the targets and luring some teachers here by accident she was sure that she could get a nice reaction from some of the club members.
Now everything she had to do was starting her preparations.
“That’s going to be great fun, when it’s finished. You would be totally proud of me...”, she muttered to herself, a mischievous grin appearing on her face.

He kept his back straight and stretched out with his feet - which was to him like he was sitting on a throne. He smiled down at her.
"Good senpai that I am, I'm going to teach you two lessons. First. Only start something you can win. Second, and listen up Himeko-chan because this is very important," he gestured over at her fliers, "is to never get caught."

Under normal circumstances there was no way that she would have been found out. Normally, she knew exactly what she was doing.
This time she just had a lot of bad luck.
“Those are basics, senpai. It’s only natural that I’d keep them in mind! But didn’t you say you have a lot of experience? In that case, I’m sure there are some more things you could tell me, that I don’t know about yet.”, she asked out of pure curiosity. Himeko still wasn’t exactly sure about what he wanted from her, but there was a possibility of finding out during their little conversation so she decided to keep it going.

"You really should say what you want to hear," he said. "You're always speaking in riddles. You should speak straight, Himeko-chan. Be more specific, if you would. What do you wish to know?"
no subject
Himeko realized that the conversation wouldn’t get her anywhere if she didn’t confront him with her thoughts directly. She knew that it was risky to talk this openly, but if she really wanted to know if the assumptions she made about him were right she had to try it.
“Another theory of mine is that you simply enjoy stirring people up against each other...”, a mischievous smile appeared on her face as she continued talking. “Either way, your motivations for helping me probably aren’t as selfless as you make them seem. Let’s say...if I prank that certain person and we both know who I'm talking about... what exactly is it you gain from that?”

"Nothing easily proved," he said to her. "It'll make a change to have a show I don't have to make myself." He inspected his nails as easily as though he were discussing some television programme. "Rules-kun needs to be careful about where he enforces school regulations, don't you think? I am quite sure it ought to give some amusement. You'd like a good show too, wouldn't you?"
no subject
“That depends.”, Himeko just answered his question. She didn’t really trust him. Then again, if they were both against Ruleaholic it didn’t really matter if she did or not. It wasn’t like she made a pact with him or anything.
“But I agree with you in terms of Ruleaholic and his annoying school regulations. Just to let you know. I’m not doing anything against him because you told me to do it. I have some kind of a score to settle with him myself and his attitude annoys me. That’s all.”, she added with a mischievous smile. It was difficult for her to hold the excitement about her upcoming prank back.
“I don’t enjoy the things you seem to enjoy for the most part, senpai. We act for different reasons. I just want to make that clear.” , the idol-wannabe added with a serious expression. She didn’t want to get roped in with him and preferred to rather stay out of his business. Somehow she believed that this was easier said than done, though….

"Of course," said Mirai. "The thing I want with Tanemoto-kun is just that you let me watch. And of course I wouldn't get in your way..."
He stopped talking and waited to see Himeko's response, resting one leg over the other, smoothing his hakama over his knee, doing something about all this excitement that was building in his body. He had caught a glimpse of her serious expression but would never believe it - and had caught her in the act, he thought thoughtfully, looking at his fingernails.

“Fine then. We have a deal.”, Himeko replied, still with some kind of a serious expression on her face.
“Just one more thing I’d like to ask of you…”, she paused for a while, thinking about how to phrase the following in an appropriate way before continuing.
“The things you saw here earlier stay between the two of us, alright? If you really want to watch me prank Ruleaholic, this would be in your interest as well. In case teachers or even other students learn about my little hobby, it will get a lot harder for me to do it properly.”
She wasn’t really happy to share some kind of secret with him but it couldn’t be helped. He had seen too much and the idol-wannabe knew that he could easily use it against her. By giving him something he wanted and kind of involving him in the whole thing, she hoped that he would desist from telling anyone. At least for a little while.

"Certainly. Like I said, I enjoy a good show." He stood up as he spoke. "I've got some last-minute cleaning to do here. Now, if you'd be so kind?"
He didn't want a non-club member under his feet.
