Who: The Chitoku inaugural class.
Where: Chitoku campus, various locations.
When: Sunday, April 3, 2022, two days before the start of spring term.
What: The school has opened its doors.
After eight years of careful planning and preparation, the campus of Chitoku Academy for the Gifted was coming alive at last. Helpful staff members had been posted everywhere in anticipation of the crowd, and seemingly every variable had been accounted for in order to make the move-in and initial orientation go as smoothly as possible...
Save, that is, for the weather.
The sky had just opened up on several hundred students and their families. Boxes and suitcases were being hastily hauled to whatever shelter could be found, with the aforementioned helpful staff members now acting as guides to the most convenient locations, and clusters of people seemed to naturally form around them, waiting for the downpour to slacken so the day could proceed.

DORMS
"What is with this weather?"
"Let's see, room 418..."
"Oh! You too? Looks like we're roommates, roommate!"
"..."
The luckiest of the crowd had been fortunate enough to be near the dormitories when the storm hit, and the lobbies of the two buildings quickly filled with people and luggage with varying degrees of saturation. While some immediately left to unpack and put this whole sorry business behind them, others hung around to socialize and get acquainted with their future fellow residents.
Re: DORMS
A very helpful staff member had been more than happy to point Haruka towards the dorms with very specific instructions of where to turn and where not to and had even almost flagged down some other students that seemed to be going towards the dorms to give Haruka a hand until the girls had fortunately run on ahead to get out the rain without hearing the teacher call to them. Haruka assured her she'd be fine and that she'd spent the previous few days familiarizing herself with the online map of the school's layout. Even if the online map was pure visual.
Haruka followed the sounds of the crowds and listened for when the girls' voices seemed to split from the guys and into the building. She started following the girls until-
"Ah-"
At some point, the faulty zipper on her bag had started sliding back, causing a gap to form in her bag. It was right then that the gap was big enough that the items that had been crammed into the bag bust out, sending clothes to hit the ground quietly and a few books to hit more solidly.
"Oh dear-"
She turned immediately, tucking her cane under her arm as she felt and gathered her items.
Re: DORMS
"Shikata Haruka. Right?" It was female, and sounded slightly older than most of the rest of the crowd nearby, but not quite old enough to be one of the parents. Whoever she was, though, she was helping pick up Haruka's scattered belongings.
Abruptly, there came a low chuckle from the newcomer's direction. "Heh, I guess this whole situation isn't shikata (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shikata_ga_nai) nai (http://www.matsu-kaze.net/mk/aruiru/) after all."
Re: DORMS
"No, it isn't at all," Haruka replied with a smile. She folded what felt like two balled shirts around her mic, stopping long enough to feel if that felt broken. She'd have to test it later to be sure. Tilting her head slightly, "You know who I am?"

Re: DORMS
Moments later, several more suitcases were pushed in by two men in dark suits. Both men saluted the young man, and turned to take their leave.
This, of course, left Shinichiro Taue, heir to the Taue company fortune, to assess just where the Hell his room was.
"They always leave when the real work needs to get started," he groused, but rolled up his sleeves before calling out to the assembled masses. "Where's a guy get his room assignment around here?"
Re: DORMS
There were quite a few curious onlookers attracted by the noise--and by who was at the center of it--but one young man shouldered his way to the front. He was short, with messy black hair and a slouch, but his shirt and slacks were neatly pressed and he spoke softly and formally, if not politely. A nametag with furigana helpfully identified him as "Maehigashi Nao, medical staff", though he looked older than the students by only a year or two at most, and no older than Taue himself.
He stared at the boy's face for a second, then nodded to himself. "Room 618, with Imaizumi Mirai-kun."
Re: DORMS
That thought lasted a beat, before he processed his room assignment.
"Sixth floor. Spectacular."
Taue sighed for a moment, before realizing that there was almost definitely an elevator or twelve. Chitoku was loaded -- even more so than his previous school was.
"Oh well. Can't mourn forever. Off I go."
Grabbing hold of all four of his suitcase handles, Shinichiro began a wobbling, awkward, most-of-hallway consuming walk towards the elevator and the start of his new life.
Re: DORMS
All things considered, it was a nice room. Better than what she was accustomed to, really. She wasted no time in packing away her few belongings before slipping her suitcase under the bed. After a small tour of the room itself, she tested the bed. Overall adequately comfortable. This was a nice establishment, she had to give them that much. The German's thoughts began to wander as she stared up at the ceiling. She had only just gotten here, and already the looks at started. The whispers followed soon after. She wasn't surprised by any means; she knew from the beginning that she would be one of, if not the MOST, unpopular kid on the premise.
With a sigh she got to her feet. Might as well take a look around, right? The giant put on her jacket, exiting her dorm room.
Dorm > Cafeteria?
He was seated prudently at the edge of the crowd, watching. A nice window-backed table at the side of the cafeteria, with a view of the entrance, where he was lounging back with a view over the crowd. He sat up a little when the foreign girl who was the subject of rumours entered.
After seeing her, the small, black-haired girls around him seemed rather tame. He watched each one that passed him with increasing boredom. He was sure he would get something from talking to her, "senpai's so good for talking to you" "what are you doing talking to those people" "he's such a swell guy", and pushed out the empty chair with his foot.
"A seat - if you want."
Re: Dorm > Cafeteria?
"...No thank you."
She said in a blunt but polite and even tone. Chloe looked at the strange character before her. Though she didn't say it, her tense posture almost seemed to scream 'What do you want from me?'

Dorm (before cafeteria?)
Coming in from out of the pelting rain, every inch of her was soaked: her long wet hair stuck to her face, neck and shoulders and her shoes sloshed as she walked. She could have wrung out her hair or clothes before entering the building but opps it only occurred to her when she was halfway up the across the first floors.
It sounded like most down there had already put their bags away or were loitering around. She accidentally banged her leg on improperly stored bag or two but found her way to the stairs without much trouble. Ihoji had said there was an elevator but the walk didn't bother Haruka.
Only five floors to go.
Re: Dorm (before cafeteria?)
Lost in that thought, Chloe almost didn't notice the other girl coming up the stairs. Almost. The German noticed something peculiar about this girl, otherwise she wouldn't have given her a second look; this girl had her eyes closed while she traversed her way up the stairs. That certainly was odd unless... wait, was this girl blind? Chloe stopped and stepped to the side on the landing so that the girl and her luggage could get by; there was no way both of them would fit (stop being a giant Chloe geez).
Chloe waited patiently and quietly for the girl to pass.

Re: DORMS
Getting to the top floor of Yanagi was also easy, thanks to the elevators that the builders of the school had prudently invested in.
But the trip to the roof was decidedly harder--at least, it would likely be so for Miyume even if it wasn't so for Shizuru. There was a long, winding, steep flight of stairs between them and their objective, and Shizuru seemed content to tale them two at a time with her normal long, loping stride.
Re: DORMS
Maybe this hadn't been such a good idea, after all. She was dripping wet, starting to feel tired, and falling down these stairs would hurt, if not end up in serious injury.
But she'd told Shizuru she would be fine. She kind of owed it to the other girl to try, at least.
With a great deal more caution and a lot less speed, Miyume followed Shizuru upstairs.
Re: DORMS
"You still good for this?" It was about as close to solicitous as she generally got.
Re: DORMS
Re: DORMS
She shut the door after her and left her bag at the door. She waited for a few moments, listening for movement or a sign of her roommate but she only heard the people running around outside. Lucky for her, she guessed.
The descriptions online had told her what to expect but she wanted to map the place by herself. After she was dry. She didn't think her roommate would appreciate her leaving even more puddles around than she already was.
After feeling her way to the washroom, she picked out a few dry clothes - including blue tank top with a dog with wings on it and a pair of jean - from her bag before entering and locking the door. Within a few minutes, the shower began running, offering blissful warmth for Haruka.
Re: DORMS
After all the trouble she had coming here, all by herself because her family couldn’t find the time to come along, everything she wanted was finally putting her pretty heavy bags down somewhere in her room.
“Room 510…Room 510…”, she mumbled the room number given to her, while checking the doors she passed by. Finally getting closer to the number she was looking for, she caught sight of a small group of girls standing right in the middle of the hallway, excessively staring at her. Himeko led out a quiet sigh and tried to ignore them as best as she could. Luckily for the small girl, they didn’t even bother to start a conversation with her. All they did was whispering behind her back.
Sadly, this was pretty normal for her already. She knew that they were most likely talking about her family, hoping that at least her sister would show up at Chitoku as well someday.
Finally, Himeko reached the door she was looking for. Not wanting to suddenly interrupt her roommate, if she happened to be there already, she decided to knock on the door before stepping inside.
At a first glance nobody except for herself seemed to have arrived yet. Then, she spotted a bag near the door and heard the sound of water in the bathroom.
Himeko placed her own bags next to the ones of her roommate and stepped directly into one of the puddles on the ground. She figured that the other girl must have gone through the rain without any umbrella, which was probably the reason for her taking a shower at the moment.
Looking around some more, she decided to sit down on one of the beds and waited for the other one to come back to their bedroom to properly greet her.
Re: DORMS
She side stepped where she had a feeling she probably dripped before and turned her head around for a bit before calling out, "Hi?"

CAFETERIA
"Don't talk about our school like that!"
"I'm not going to argue with free."
The central location and the lure of refreshments intended for later orientations made the student cafeteria the preferred source of shelter for many. Some poor administrator had already been dispatched there to apologize profusely for the inconvenience and offer assistance or compensation to whoever might request it.
Re: CAFETERIA
She didn't check out the refreshments just yet and instead looked around for a free seat. She spotted one in the middle of the cafeteria and sat down to rest and wait.
Re: CAFETERIA
Where most of those present had at least made an effort to look presentable, Shizuru had apparently missed the memo, with the trenchcoat over her shoulders half-hiding a shirt that was a size too small even on her skinny frame, and a pair of shorts that had probably been jeans a decade or so ago.
And then there was, of course, the hat.
Her duffel bag hit the floor a second later, and the plate she'd piled refreshments on hit the table a second after that. Clearly, she had taken advantage of the opportunity that had presented itself.
Re: CAFETERIA
Her smile, while polite and friendly, was also a bit on the nervous side. Miyume didn't say anything, however, just picked at a bit of lint on her skirt and stole curious glances at the other girl and her food.

GYMNASIUM
"I bet they could do, like, Defense Force drills in here if they wanted to."
".. This is way too clean for a gym. It's weirding me out."
The school's athletic complex was slightly more out of the way, but its size allowed it to handle the overflow that the other meeting areas couldn't. With the rest of the complex besides the main arena closed off, there was little to do bit sit and chat until conditions improved.
Re: GYMNASIUM
A bag larger than usual, that clattered loudly because of the equipment contained within. A thin man was kneeling down at one side and unzipping the main pocket. He closed his eyes lazily. He laughed and lay an umbrella at his feet - and then got further down on his knees till he touched the ground. His eyes were squinting as he made sure nothing had been damaged anywhere.
Better to let go of his belongings, he thought, and worry about them than to struggle with the weight.
"My, it feels good to take a small rest." Rummage. "Pardon me." Rummage, rummage. "I would be happy to help you make it a little dirty, if you would like."
Re: GYMNASIUM
"Sacchi, did he just-- I mean, do you think--"
'Sacchi' gave her friend a sly grin and a wink, and her shoulders a gentle push. "Go get 'em, tiger."
