Who: Kazuki, open
Where: 3-ha classroom, hallway
When: Monday 24, Lunch
What: Kazuki's first day at school.

Tac. Tactac.

The light tapping of a pencil against the desk briefly joins the variety of sounds within the classroom. It is the sole clue giving away the enthusiasm of its owner. Yukimura Kazuki has assisted Chitoku Academy for not four hours, and already he finds himself relaxed and cheerful. You'd hardly notice this from looking at him, expression frozen into his typical poker face. Innerly, however, Kazuki is ecstatic to be here. A new school comes with hundreds of new first impressions, as well as the disappearance of the ones he gave in his last school (or, if not that, at least the opportunity to make them irrelevant).

The high schooler isn't the least bit picky about who he associates with, and as he hears the door in front of the classroom open, he decides to interact with the individual entering before he so much as sees who it is. Since it does indeed turn out to be a classmate (and a pretty sociable one at that), he decides to make eye contact and wait for conversation. Unfortunately, Kazuki's old habits die harder than any 80's action flick, and even though he lock eyes with his classmate, he remains silent for the entire five seconds he looks at him, seeing the other party join his friends at the other end of the room.

...Did that come off as weird?

Kazuki's question is answered by the blossoming conversation he witnesses the group having. It looks like, in trying to come up with a topic to talk about, he became one himself.

That's alright. He anticipated this. Leaving the classroom in what he slowly starts to recognize as embarrassment, he leans against a wall in the hallway and starts to wait out the minutes until class resumes. Kazuki refuses to let this ruin his good mood. There's as many chances for this as there are people in the world. If nothing else, he can balance things out by giving a good first impression to the ones who do talk to him. The black-haired boy's train of thought is briefly interrupted by the slow sound of rolling and one last 'tac' coming from within the room - louder, this time, dropping from his desk.

Ah. The pencil...

"Art."

Kisa scratched the back of her neck sheepishly. "I've never been great at it, but I'm doing my best to improve. Most of my time goes toward studying and judo, so it's difficult..."

The sheepish smile remained as she moved on to the topic of the competition. "I think I'll have to decline the tournament. I really can't do anything with a bokken." For a moment, there was a twinge of something odd and pained in her smile, but it was gone as quickly as it had come. "But I'd be happy to come watch if I can."

"I thought Art was one of those subjective things, you weren't 'good' or 'bad' at it..." Baku regards Kisa with renewed curiosity at her statement, but his attention returns to Kazuki as soon as he speaks, sporting a sheepish grin of his own as he scratches the back of his head, "You've got guts, Senpai, that's for sure. I didn't actually think you'd want to try, but you're more than welcome to if you really want to! I think I'll challenge Tanemoto-san tomorrow."

And again, there was the mischief that typically accompanies his competitive side. In fact, he had been so enthralled with it that he had forgotten entirely about his now-lukewarm noodles. He looks down to them with an expression of surprise and hastily finishes the rest.

"Oh, no, not at all. That's more common in the West, I think. Some of the art over there..." Kisa grimaced and shook her head. "But I'm trying to get better at it."

But the kendo topic was a little more interesting -- certainly to the others involved -- so she was fine with sticking relatively close to that. "I have judo tomorrow, so I'm afraid I won't be able to make it. I'll try to come by if it's after club, though."

The teen nods emphatically with a bold grin, "yeah, I figure I'll approach him after kendo practice. If you hurry, you might catch the tail-end of it all!" "Tail-end of kicking his tail" is what you wanted to say. In any case, lunch was almost over, and Baku was much further from his class than the others, so this was as good an opportunity as any to say his farewells.

"Anyways, I have to head back to class, else Ryuta-san might fuss at me again," he nods again to Kazuki and offers him a wide smile, "good to meet you, Yukimura-senpai." When his gaze turns to Kisa, a faint tinge of color returns to his cheeks and he continues, "great to see you again, Saiga-senpai."
